Herts County Festival
By Michelle Amos
Mixed results at Herts Festival.
The 31st of March saw the Herts Festival come round again. Stevenage would play four teams in a tough Pool A. All 14 players would be used and have to be at their best.
Stevenage 1 Vs Chess Valley 0
Match one was against Chess Valley and Stevenage had beaten them earlier in the season but the boys were quiet and not really with it. It was very close between the two teams but Jack broke through Chess Valleys defence to get the only try of the game and give Stevenage a narrow victory.
Stevenage 1 Vs OA’s 3
The next match was against OA’s. Stevenage took an early lead through a quick break from Luke down the wing and over the tryline. OA’s came back strong and the boys still seemed a little slow which resulted in the opposition racking up three tries and sealing the win.
Stevenage 3 Vs Royston Crows 2
Luke, Luke, Luke.
Royston had been playing well which meant Stevenage would have to raise their game. The boys started well and moved the ball much better. Three trade mark tries from Luke and his electric pace gave Stevenage a 3-0 lead. Royston came back at them though and Town defended hard to limit them to two tries for another narrow victory but deserved.
Stevenage 0 Vs Harpenden 2
Harpenden had beaten all of the other teams and looked like a very good side. The Under 11’s put in a strong performance and played really well but Harpenden got two tries to give them the victory. That being said, the boys should be proud of the way they played against strong opposition.
Stevenage started slow but put in two solid performances at the end. All of the boys played their part and did what the Coaches asked of them in the final two games. Well done Town!
See you all next week at destination tryline.
